Tash Sultana is a multi-instrumentalist hailing from the streets of Melbourne. At just the young age of 21 the young dynamic artist is already making waves having her own record label, and creating a huge name for her-self rising to such prominence within the Melbourne music scene, using the internet to her advantage and spreading her music world wide, capturing millions of people’s attention virally. Tash has been playing music since she was 3 years old and has definitely adapted her own unique sound that has people queued out the doors eager to see what she has to bring to the table. Her vocal range is something simply impeccable with a natural gift of melody.
Tashes carefully crafted set consists of an array of multi instrumental pieces: beat boxing, percussion styled finger tapping, looping, unique guitar styles, pan flute and synths. The one woman pocket rocket band has already had a massive 2016 having sold out shows around the country and just finished her world tour, nothing is stopping this chick from achieving.
Tash played a sold out gig at the Northern Hotel in Byron Bay on the 22nd of September. The Northern was packed with people of all ages eager to see her perform.
Supporting Tash was Lylall Moloney, yet another multi-instrumentalist that is making a name for himself in the music industry, he delivered a high energy set that had the crowd grooving and dancing.
As soon as Tash started her souring vocals had the crowd in awe, this girl has confidence and knows how to capture an audience’s attention, after finishing the first song and ripping into the next tune playing a high energy and emotional set of electric guitar whilst also combining her own rhythm section, all sounds she did were looped live and left me in bewilderment. It was astonishing to hear such a massively layered sound come off stage from just one person, I can most definitely say she is one of the most captivating guitarists I have ever seen.
Throughout her set she combined pan flute and beat boxing, whilst looping vocals, percussion and guitar into one song which was definitely a highlight. Tash played the well-known song Notion which the crowd sang along to and finished with an electrifying guitar solo Tash Sultana style. She closed the show with Black Bird which left me in complete awe watching her fingers tap at lightning speed on an acoustic guitar. This girl is hands down the best solo artist I have seen all year and was left speechless with her pure raw talent.
