"Peak Performance" sees The Good Sports self-produce their finest and most unique work yet. Guitars swap from swirling, modulating melodies drenched in reverb and delay, to fuzzy sixties-influenced leads and back again. Vocals float and echo over the top of the songs with lyrics exploring themes of introspection, love, and maturing into adulthood, while reflecting on the confusion, frustration and mundanity that comes along with the trajectory. Each song off "Peak Performance" is like a lo-fi candid snapshot into the life of the band, as the songs are both personal and raw. The ten tracks that comprise the album invoke an almost voyeuristic experience for the listener, transporting them to the dimly lit bars and clubs the band perform in, to the old Queenslander homes they retire to.
