Amy Shark @ Amplifier Capitol, Perth - 09/09/2017

There may be plenty of fish in the sea, but there’s only one Amy Shark. The Gold Coast artist stopped by Amplifier Capitol in Perth City for her national tour last Saturday evening, supported by local favourite Morgan Bain and Melbourne-based Fractures.

Entering Australian music waves with her bill board hit, Adore, Amy Shark has swam up the charts with torpedo speed including a number two spot on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2016. She’s no one-hit-wonder though, which she proved over the weekend to a packed Capitol house with tracks off her latest EP, Night Thinker, with Rabbit Radio favourites including Deleted Scenes, and Adore (derrh) for the final hurrah. She’s no reef dweller either, pulling the jaw-dropped Perth crowd into deep and unexpected waters with her cover of EMINEM’s Superman, bringing back 2002 Hip-Hop to 2017. We already knew Amy Shark was ocean-cool with her rap influences, kicked back story-teller-lyrics and Adidas trackies, but the visitor from eastern shores took it to new depths with this bold number. Salute!

I’ll be floating on the waves of the Night Thinker EP until the anticipated album hits the fish market...
