Since moving to Sydney there has been such a huge hype around the re-opening on The Lansdowne Hotel and I finally got to witness a gig here, and watching one of my favourite aussie bands at the moment. Everyone keeps giving this venue such praise and man since it has opened up again the calibre of gigs they've been putting on is insane, with Gold Class being one of them. This show was well and truly sold out with bodies all fitting into the venue quite well, well let's just say you weren't sweating up a storm next to some hairy dude (always a plus).
I remember first hearing Gold Class in 2015 on triple j and thought holy shit is that Morrissey? 'Life As A Gun' was their first single for us to hear and man ever since I heard it I just fell in love with this Melbourne based band. Extremely well rehearsed, tight and unified, they made their way through one epic set. The band really have a nostalgic element about them like they could've been a band from the U.K from the 1970's/80's who David Bowie and Prince adored.
Watching Adam the vocalist really belt out this set made the gig one special one to witness, kept thinking he was Morrissey with an element of Fred Schneider from the B52's (the comparison is extremely accurate you gotta admit). We got to witness new material and singles such as 'Kids On Fire', 'Twist In The Dark' and more. With one album under their belt and another for release very soon, I really cannot wait. This band really has something different about them which is damn exciting for Australian music, and the fact they've done copious amounts of touring abroad, well I can only see an extremely bright and shining future for the band.
