Headlining Jack Rabbit Slims in Perth on Saturday night were independent Artists Tora. All the way from sunny Byron Bay they come to check out the cooler west coast for a couple of nights. I was pretty excited for this gig, and was really impressed by the guys performance.
As soon as they hit the stage they had the audiences attention. They had a full house and also a line down the road outside. A 45 minute wait made this a gig you would want to get to early if you didn't want to miss their set! If you have heard Tora's music you would be happy to know they are incredible live, they have an extremely tight sound and the vocals are absolutely flawless.
The lead singer had a microphone, synth and drum pad set up in front of him full of all the necessary samples as well as playing electric guitar. The rest of the band added a second lead synth/vocals, another guitar/vocals, bass and drums. It created an awesome vibe and displayed the kind of talent they have to offer. Included in the neat drum kit was a woodblock which gave it that dance kit feel and rhythm.
Halfway through the set they played us an unreleased track 'Mercury', spoiling us with a first play and giving us a taste of what to expect from them in the future! An awesome track that had a lot of bass that the whole crowd loved.
Tora looked like they were having an absolute ball and really enjoyed being here in Perth. I think the crowd loved them even more though! They were asked to sing along during 'Jaigantic' and thats exactly what they did, I could hardly hear the band at one point. A cheer for an encore at the end and the guys came back out played us another awesome track with a little extra bass. Said there goodbyes again and came back out for a second encore!!! I am so glad the crowd loved it as much as they did.
If you haven't heard these guys yet get onto it!
