Promoters behind Byron Bay's Bluesfest have announce the first round of artists for the 2016 event - making this their earliest announcement the festival's history.
Feeling like we've only washed the mud from our gum boots, Bluesfest is Australia's premiere blues and roots music festival happening over the Easter long weekend every year.
Leading the announcement are The National, who perform exclusively at Bluesfest, with City and Colour, reggae legends UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue are also included in the announement.
Blues rock maestro Joe Bonamassa will also be in the country exclusively for the event and Aussie stage kings The Cat Empire will perform as well.
Up to eight lineup announcements are expected to be made for the event, which will take place from Thursday 24 – Monday 28 March 2016.
“I am negotiating currently with many of the world’s greatest artists to come and perform for you,” Nobel said. “There will be many more to be announced, both classic and contemporary, and if this first announcement does not ring your bell – and I would be surprised if it doesn’t, at the very least, give you a little tingle – then I’m totally convinced there will be something for you in the coming ones,” says festival organiser Peter Noble.
