Jay Watson is a busy man. When he’s not juggling playing in bands Pond and Tame Impala, he’s working on his solo project under the moniker GUM. Earlier today, GUM dropped some big news. Next week he will be dropping his third album Flash In The Pan under Spinning Top Music. The release comes off the back of a support tour with Mac Demarco earlier this year following the release of 2015’s ‘Glamorous Damag
‘Gemini’ is the first taster we’ve heard from the upcoming record, and it absolutely oozes psych-soul. Which, coming from a man split between two of the most psychedelic bands in the country, is no real surprise.
When asked about the track’s meaning Watson says “I’m not really a fan of star signs. It’s kind of a song about people pinning stuff happening in their lives on things like star signs and religion. I am a Gemini though, so there’s the bipolar/duality thing in there is as well.”
Flash In the Pain will be released November 11 and is available for pre-order here. (http://radi.al/GUMFlashInThePan).
