Jariah Travan - Music Director
Gary Clark Jr
This was my first time seeing Gary Clark Jr and standing in the dust, looking at the people surrounding me, literally getting down to the ground having a boogie whiles Gary ignited each track with his incredible guitar solo’s. His performance confirms the obvious: he’s a guitar hero of potent charisma. My favourite tracks he played were Numb, and Dont Owe You a Thing. During track Bright Lights, a slow, deep-pocket blues, built gradually to a two-chord riff that cut the air like jet flying by the ocean. Then, Clark soloed. His three-piece band dug in, sped up, reaching crescendo. It was rock, it was blues and it was damn amazing!
King Gizzard and The Lizzard Wizzard
40 minutes of psychedelic action is what exploded through my ears. Lead vocalist Stu Mackenzie looked like he was enjoying himself so much on stage and the sound coming from this band was absolutely incredible. What I love about King Gizz is they are completely different, they have their own style and incorporate a multitude of different instruments separating them even further from the normalcy of other bands. They crowd at the Forest stage for these guy's was pumping!
Sarah McEwan - Manager
Well, after loving these guys for so long and seeing them over a year ago at a local venue, I was mighty excited to see them play their new tracks off their soon to be released album 'Bloom'. There was much hype around the boys from Rufus before Falls and man did they step up to the plate or what ! Constant grooves and sweaty bodies were vibing around the Valley stage on the Friday night, nobody could stand still to the goodness that is rufus. They said that the Byron crowd was their favourite of them all, and I'm going to give credit to the epic dance moves we were all cracking out. What a bloody fun time !
Mac De Marco
I've been digging this dudes music since it hit the airwaves and what makes me love him even more is his attitude and humor. The Canadian producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist is only 25 years old and making waves all around the globe, with a collection of 8 albums/E.P's up his sleeve there are an abundance of punchy, short tracks throughout his set for everyone's listening pleasure. He's full of sarcasm on stage and really has a great connection with his audience, his afternoon set was a perfect way to send off yet another day of falls brilliance. If you love lazy guitars, witty lyrics and swaying your body all round, then you must check out the man, Mac De Marco.
