It all started in a rural town in Victoria in a shed where 4 sisters Amy, Hannah, Sarah and Holly had some singing lessons that soon lead to creating the coolest all girl band we've come across. Mega babes, Stonefield have been super busy touring around the country, winning APRA Music Awards, asking to tour with Fleetwood Mac in November and we were lucky enough to chat to them at this years BIGSOUND.
You girls just finished up your Golden Dream tour not too long ago and have a few more things coming up too, how are you feeling for this?

Yeah very keen, it's good because we've been finishing off the album and it's good to break it up a bit with shows, playing is defiantly our favourite thing, so it's nice to get away from home where we've just been writing, it is good to go home but it's really good to break it up by moving around, which also helps to gain inspiration.

So you're supporting Fleetwood Mac when they come out here along with Angus and Julia Stone, you must be pretty keen for all this?

Yeah we're really excited, it's pretty much a dream come true as it's very much our childhood music.
Apparently our sister, Sarah was named after their song. We've met Angus and Julia before, Julia was in the studio when we were recording our Golden Dream album and Angus was at one of our shows in Byron.

Having such a young member of the band only being 17, do you have problems getting into venues?

Ah, only certain venues but most of the time it's okay, Holly started playing music when she was 11 or 12 and now she's 17. She actually started playing music when she was 7, which now when I think about it, that is crazy young it just felt so normal at the time.

Did you guys grow up playing music?

Our parents don't play music, but there's always been music playing in our house growing up, we started off doing the whole dancing thing and then a singing teacher came to town, we all then got singing lessons which lead to us progressing with our instruments.

What did you grow up listening to ?

Classic 70's rock bands, Frank Zappa, our dad is a huge fan, Jimi Hendrix as well and we're still very much influenced by these bands now.

What new music are you loving at the moment?

Bands like Witch, Fuzz and Goat who are touring with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, I love the world music aspect and that its mixed classic rock.

I'm pretty jealous of your amazing fashion sense, where do you score things from?

A lot of our stuff is from Op Shops and just little boutiques that we come across.
