Radolescent are made up of three long time mates from the Gold Coast, Isaac on guitar and Vocals, Lachlan plays around with guitar and bass and Kurt on the drums. Together, the trio have delivered their new anti-establishment sound similarly of 90’s Punk, 'Drug Fiend'. And yes, the name suggests exactly that.
After throwing a lot of parties and jamming too loudly in their small apartment, the boys started looking for a space to play and write songs. “We were pretty lucky one of our friends who was a bit older than us, he said that we could use his surf school warehouse to jam and keep our stuff. We are still there and pretty grateful for it. We would probably be nothing without his help.” 2017 found the band releasing their first four track EP Scrape Ya Plate which quickly turned their warehouse jams, in to a live audience and stage outfit.
'Drug Fiend' was one of the first songs Isaac wrote for Radolescent, drawing inspiration from his love for recreational drug use. After having disagreements with friends and family about what people actually class as drugs, Isaac wrote the song as a social commentary, highlighting the fact that everyone is dependent on various vices to get them through the day, some of which aren't perceived to be drugs.
"We recorded 'Drug Fiend' at Blind Boy Studio with Brad Hoskings and Mark Duckworth, the track was then mixed/mastered by Dan at Deathset over in New York", Isaac explains “We had expectations of recording being a rather grueling process but we now think thats bullshit, especially working with those two”.
With a sound awash with a rock aesthetics penetrating your mind, it’s hard to rip yourself away from the catchy surf inspired sing a longs.
