AYLA - LIKE THE OTHER KIDS (Independent)
After the unmeasured success of her 2015 debut EP When The World Ends, AYLA returns today with a new offering in 'Like the Other Kids' and a subsequent launch tour. the song's chugging, layered production is anchored by a pounding drum motif that takes it from stunning to anthemic, a catalyst for misty eyes and gentle steps forward despite its "dark imagery". Then there's that voice. The smooth, effortless gliding heights. The insouciant depths. Given a delicate yet self-determined vehicle through the considered nature of AYLA's songwriting prowess, 'Like the Other Kids' represents the dawning of a new age. You'd never guess it was conceived of while AYLA was washing dishes at her parents' house, testing out her rap

OSAKA - WEIGHTS (Independent)
Melbourne's Osaka snared the attention of industry tastemakers with 'Vessel' - now they're back with an equally enrapturing track: their single 'Weights' is released today.
'Weights' is comfortingly familiar; it also has no shortage of unexpected sonic surprises to delight the senses. The very definition of charming, its hallmarks are its chirpy guitars, Britpop-esque vocals and oscillating synths. The reality of the song, however, couldn't be further from its aural promises, as frontman Edvard Hakansson asserts: "It talks about carrying someone or something’s weight... And what would happen if you just allowed the weight to crush you? Or if you gave up on why you carried it."
With live shows coming soon and the weight (sorry) of the Australian music scene steadily building behind them via positive reviews from Rolling Stone, Indietronica, FasterLouder and more, Osaka are poised to speed ahead at full throttle.
IDIIO - HOLDING ME BACK (Independent)
Raised in Christchurch, New Zealand and now residing on the Gold Coast, Australia, Idiio are known for their passion towards music. They strive to create emotion through music around people, whatever the situation may be.
To say that Idiio are unique would be a severe understatement. Their dark, haunting drive juxtaposes the ambient melodies has captured the hearts of each listener. Taking strides from their contemporaries such as the experimental bass tones of Rüfüs and the dense, soulful vocal essence of Sufjan Stevens.
Beginning with a slow, rich arpeggiating bass line, 'Holding Me Back' effortlessly builds its pace to the track's woozy slow jam feel. Idiio take you on a calming, yet frightening, journey through their version of electronica.

SELAHPHONIC - EASY (Independent)
‘Easy’ recalls the early 2000’s indie-pop throwback vibes of Phoenix and Passion Pit, whilst melding more modern influences likened to Jack Garratt. Recorded at front man Jamie Coyle’s bungalow in Coolum Beach, the track builds effortlessly from start-to-finish; led by Coyle’s infectious vocal melodies and complimented by 80’s pop-inspired analogue synth and tastefully arranged guitar licks.
Coyle describes the motivation behind the song –
“’Easy’ is about acknowledging that life is full of hardships and obstacles. Certain events take you by surprise and plans don’t always necessarily roll out, as you’d like them to. You lose your job, someone you love dies, you fail your university exams or you get your heart broken. It’s easy to give up, but to overcome and face these challenges is what displays and builds true character.”
The four-piece have been maintaining a vigorous touring schedule throughout the whole year, including a recent DIY backyard tour where they played eight shows across the East Coast. They’ve also shared stages with the likes of Hey Geronimo and Sahara Beck.
