TEMPLES - 'STRANGER OR BE FORGOTTEN' (Heavenly Recordings)
Temples have announced details of the release of ‘Strange Or Be Forgotten’, the latest track to be taken from their forthcoming second album, Volcano, out on Friday 3 March 2017 through Heavenly Recordings. The track was self-produced and recorded at the band’s home studio in Kettering and follows the release of the first track to be taken from the album, ‘Certainty’, which racked up well over a million plays on Spotify and Soundcloud, bagged an A list on 6Music and a #1 spot on Hype Machine for three days straight at the end of last year.
PVT - 'ANOTHER LIFE' (Create/Control)
‘Another Life’ pulses with the same intense energy of its sprawling predecessor, albeit in a comparatively concise four minutes, and despite also being complex in its composition, features a tribal beat and hypnotic refrain that draws the listener deep into the chaotic and experimental dimension within which PVT exist. Having toured the globe as headliners, as well as in support of acts like The Arctic Monkeys, Gary Numan, Warpaint, Bloc Party, and Gotye, they are one of the country’s most electrifying live campaigners and are set to bring that battle hardened experience to Australian audiences for a run of dates supporting the album in the new year.
SLUMBERJACK FEAT VERA BLUE - 'FRACTURE' (onelove)
‘Fracture’ feat. Vera Blue follows on from the globally inspired single 'RA' (peaking at #3 on the iTunes Electronic Chart and added to numerous Spotify tastemaker playlists including New Music Friday, This Week Sounds Like, Fresh Electronic and Best New EDM), the ethereal "Open Fire' feat. Daniel Johns featuring the dynamic, dreamy vocal of the renowned Australian singer/songwriter, 'Enigma' feat. GRRL PAL (now over 4 million Spotify plays) and their debut self titled EP (#2 iTunes electronic albums) and #1 Hype Machine track, 'Horus'. The new single follows on from 2016’s hits 'RA' and "Open Fire' feat Daniel Johns, and cements the Perth powerhouse exports as one of the most exciting and daringly creative acts within Australia’s electronic music scene.
CAMERON AVERY - 'WASTED ON FIDELITY' (Spinning Top Records)
The second cut off his debut solo album, ‘Wasted on Fidelity’ is a wry and swinging glimpse into the debauched haze following a failed relationship. Having made LA home over the past two years and working with Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Erykah Badu, Elvis Costello), Avery's solo aesthetic has progressed from the distortion-soaked sound of his first project The Growl to a more clear, ambitious and cinematic sound. With his deep, husky baritone, Avery harnesses the dark power and humor of artists like Nick Cave, Scott Walker, and Tindersticks. On Ripe Dreams, Pipe Dreams, Avery channels train-wreck romanticism into timeless music for the modern age. The result is a bold new direction, resulting in a beautiful body of work driven by Cameron’s soulful wit and sweeping arrangements.
HOMESHAKE - 'EVERY SINGLE THING' (Remote Control)
'Every Single Thing' is the second single to date from Fresh Air, the forthcoming album fromHomeshake out on Friday 3rd February 2017 via Sinderlyn / Remote Control Records. Born in the bleak isolation of the secluded prairie city of Edmonton, Canada, Peter Sagar worked with friends in a number of local bands before picking up and moving to Montreal in 2011 to begin recording under the Homeshake moniker. Following two self-released cassettes (The Homeshake Tapes and Dynamic Meditation) and two acclaimed full lengths (In The Shower and Midnight Snack), Sagar announces Fresh Air.
THE COURTNEYS - 'TOUR' (Flying Nun)
The Courtneys drift back to the sound of the early '90s, drawing from strong influences including Teenage Fanclub, Pavement, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, and The Clean. Courtney Loove's dreamy guitar riffs add a timeless powerpop element to the punk backbone formed by Sydney Koke's driving basslines, while drummer/lead singer Jen Twynn Payne delivers heartfelt lyrics with a powerful vocal style. These components come together through a passionate collaborative songwriting process to deliver a special blend of fuzzy "artisanal grunge".
VORHEES - 'BLACK HORSE PIKE' (Styles Upon Styles)
Vorhees (Dana Wachs) has been in the music industry for quite some time, starting at the age of 19 in the Dischord band Holy Rollers before becoming a world-renowned sound engineer and touring with Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent & others. She's recently opened for Cat Power, Matmos & Dum Dum Girls.
